ABOUT US
Matteo and I, Celia, are the happy co-founders of Rovers. We met in London in 2015, lived & worked as licensed guides in Rome (Matteo’s hometown) and Paris (Celia’s hometown) for several years.
After years guiding, we matured a project that reflects our values and represents what we aspire to : a better and more inspiring travel experience.
The idea of Rovers was born from a desire to create a community of expert guides that could help travellers discover their destination through stories, insights, personal experiences, in a way that is simple, funny and accessible to a wide audience by sharing authentic moments with locals during cultural, gastronomic, sensory activities and tours.
If you’re driven by curiosity and want to add meaning to your travel, you’re definitely one of us!
MATTEO
I grew up in Rome, but it wasn’t until I left that I really realised how beautiful it was. When I came back from London, I had a different perspective and rediscovered my native city. I also started training in photography and filmography to capture the monuments, the streets, the people, the moments of life.
I know exactly what is the feeling you have when travelling to a new place, that sense of novelty that goes through your body and makes you want to know more, understand why and tells you to stop, and take a second to appreciate the moment. It’s at that moment that my mind starts to rover around with millions of questions!
Becoming a guide was an obvious choice to find the answers and to now share it with the curious people who follow my guided tours.
That’s what Rovers means to me: sharing a moment to make a traveller live an authentic experience like a Rover.
CELIA
Born in Paris, I’ve always had a passion for travelling. As a child, I often visited the Louvre and the capital’s many museums with my family. After living in London and Rome, I was able to combine my taste for art and culture with my language and communication skills. Guiding was just perfect for me!
I understand perfectly how it can feel visiting a country you know nothing about! How many wonderful discoveries can you make through history, but also through the inhabitants of a place, what are their habits, what do they eat, how do they live? I asked myself all these questions during my first few months abroad and the curious people who followed my guided tours were also able to find the answers.
That’s what Rovers means to me: authentic sharing, between a traveller who has come to discover a place and a local Rover.
